Eric Higgs

Eric Higgs is fascinated by ecological restoration in all of its forms, including participation, social justice and equity, historical ecology for understanding change and reference conditions, and emerging ecological novelty. He is Professor at the University of Victoria’s School of Environmental Studies, past chair of the Society for Ecological Restoration, and director of the Mountain Legacy Project (mountainlegacy.ca). He is author of Nature By Design: People, Natural Process and Ecological Restoration, and co-editor of, Novel Ecosystems: Intervening in the New Ecological World Order.
